The Government implementing agency, Customs General Administration, held its annual meeting to review its accomplishments in 2017 (11 January 2018). The Director General B.Asralt congratulated the officers, emphasizing positive results and achievements.

Mongolians Customs surpassed its target for 2017 by 2.82%.  Total trade turnover increased 27.3% as compared with the same period last year. As of the end of 2017, 84.1% of minerals export were cleared via paperless technology. The traders were enabled to carry out its clearance on the internet and without having to go through customs brokers. In 2017, transaction value was used for 85.1% of import and 80.1% of export, which indicate an increased level of compliance from the trade.

Furthermore, major revision to the Customs Law was drafted; the 2017 amendments to the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System was implemented on time; and significant investment was made to improving the technical and human capabilities.

The World Customs Organization is dedicating 2018 to the security of the business environment, with the slogan “A secure business environment for economic development.” Mongolian Customs is proclaiming the year 2018 to be “A year for facilitating legitimate trade and promoting economic growth”.
