Convention on Customs Cooperation Council entered into force on 4 November 1952 and established the World Customs Organization of today with 17 founding members upon holding its inauguration meeting on 26 January 1953. Today the World Customs Organization has 182 member customs administrations which is responsible for 98% of the international trade turnover worldwide.

As such the 26th of January has been celebrated as the “International Customs Day.” Over 750 thousand customs officers from all over the world is celebrating this day under the theme “A secure business environment for economic development” today.

Mongolia became a member of the World Customs Organization in 1991 and has been contributing to the development of the policies of the organization to the extent possible. The year 2018 has been declared as a “Year of facilitating legal trade and promoting economic development.”

In celebrating the “International Customs Day” the Customs General Administration organized an event “A secure business environment for economic development 2018” and provided the customs officers nationwide with 6 types of presentation materials containing the main WCO tools and instruments.

World Customs Organization certificates of appreciation were awarded to those officers that contributed to enhancing cooperation of the Mongolian Customs. We wish every member of Mongolian Customs a very happy International Customs Day!
