“REDUCING WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING AND PREVENTION OF CRIMES IN BORDER RESIDENTS” PROJECT WILL IMPLEMENT IN TWO BORDER PORTS WITH HIGH RISK

DSC 5972The Zoological Society of London with the collaboration of the Customs General Administration, has started implementing the project “Reducing the Wildlife Trafficking, and prevention of crimes in border residents” with the funding of Government of United Kingdom. The project will be implemented in 2018-2021 and the operation will focus on Zamiin-Uud Customs and two other border ports with high risk of illegal trafficking of wildlife animals’ organs and products.

The collaborative implementer of the project from United Kingdom, Mr. Robert Gray, chief instructor of the National team of Border Force Dog Unit of UK and Mr. Guy Clark, Deputy Director of the CITES national team of Border department are on an official visit from 22– 30 October 2018 in Customs General Administration of Mongolia. The main purpose of this visit is to develop collaboration between Mongolia and United Kingdom’s customs organization and to further identify the activities of bilateral cooperation in reducing the wildlife trafficking.

In this regard, the Zoological Society of London organized a joint meeting of Mongolia and British Customs Administration representatives on October 23 at the conference room of the Customs General Administration.

Mr. Yo.Bat-Erdene, Deputy Director General of Customs General Administration, Mr. E.Munkhuu, Director of Customs Control and Inspection Department, Mr.Ch.Dulguun, Head of Customs Offence and Information Unit of the Customs Offence Prevention and Preliminary Investigation Department, Ms. J.Chimgee, customs senior officer and Mr. B.Dorjpurev, customs officer of the Media, Training and Research Center, Mr.B.Uugan-Erdene, customs officer of the Customs Control and Inspection Department, Mr.B.Bayarsaikhan, customs officer of the International Cooperation Division, Mr.B.Narmandakh, Director of the Detector Dog Training Center, Mr.B.Enkhtaivan, customs senior officer and Mr.M.Iderkhangai, customs officer of the detector dog training center, Mr. Samuel Merson, project coordinator of Zoological Society of London, M.Myagmarsuren, Sh.Myagmarsuren, G.Tungalag, the staff of the society participated in the meeting and exchanged their views on the cooperation work.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Mongolia, Mr.Philip Malone has made the opening speech of the conference.
