SEMINAR ON COMBATING CITES RELATED OFFENCES

The Detector Dog Unit of the Customs General Administration of Mongolia in collaboration with the Zoological Society of London organized a seminar on “The Role of Government Organizations in Combating CITES Related Crimes and the Benefit of Using Detector Dogs.” (2019.03.22) The Deputy Director General of Customs General Administration Yo.Bat-Erdene and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Philip Malone made opening remarks.

The seminar covered topics ranging from the use of detector dogs for official purposes and the potential to use them for the purpose of protecting environment. The seminar was attended by officials from approximately 20 organizations including the Police Department, Emergency Management Authority, Civil Aviation Authority and the Association of Mongolia for Detector Dogs Research. The Participants expressed their opinions regarding the potential to use detector dogs for detecting environmental crimes and identified the activities to carry out in this field.
