Restriction has been made travel through Mongolian-Chinese border crossings

The government of Mongolia, due to novel coronavirus epidemic in China, made decision to restrict travel through Mongolian and Chinese border crossings in accordance with Article 7 of the “Agreement between Government of Mongolia and Government of China on Mongolian and Chinese border ports and their regimes”, for unspecified time period.

Thus, starting from January 28th 2020, following restrictions have been made for border crossing:

Citizen of Mongolia;

  • People who are on official or business trip to China or third country are allowed through any auto border crossings based on their respective official evidence or mission or plan or itinerary.
  • Drivers who left their coal-transporting trucks in China are allowed through auto border crossings based on respective company issued reference.
  • Full time truck drivers hauling minerals (coal, copper concentrate, oil, iron ore, spar) are allowed to travel through any border crossing.
  • All travelers to China on leisure are suspended.
  • Foreign citizens who are leaving Mongolia are permitted to leave through all border crossings.
  • Chinese nationals and other nationals who have “Type J tourist” visa are allowed to enter Mongolia only through Zamiin Uud border crossing or Buyant Ukhaa airport. Travel through other border crossings is not permitted.
  • Chinese nationals and other nationals who have Business visa or visas other than “Type J tourist’ visa allowed to enter Mongolia through any border crossings.

Foreign citizens;

Timetable of border crossing follows as per “Agreement between Government of Mongolia and Government of China on Mongolian and Chinese border ports and their regimes”. No border crossings are closed and only above mentioned restriction are implied.
